Utada Hikaru go on hiatus

It’s been a while we didn’t hear something about Utada Hikaru … Just few days ago she has announced that she will suspend musical activities:

“I am going to stop flashy “artist activities” for a while and focus on “human activities, ” starting from next year.“

However, some release are still planned for this year such as the “Single Collection vol. 2” which should includes 4 or 5 new songs.

Sunday’s VOCALOID: Miku on Spanish TV show

Music Technology Group has posted an interesting interview with Xavier Serra (Professor in a University specialized in sound and music computing in Barcelona, Spain).

They talk about transforming voice software and demonstrate one a called “KaleivoiceCope“.

“VOCALOID triumph in Japan” is the final subject of the show. Xavier Serra explain how it works.

L’Arc~en~Ciel gets their Third J-MELO Awards (2009)： Most-Requested Artists

L’Arc~en~Ciel has received their third J-MELO Awards (2009) as Most-Requested Artists. They received this award last year and in 2007.

Beck Movie Trailer

The first trailer of the live action film adaptation of Harold Sakuishis Beck rock-and-roll manga.

Director Yukihiko Tsutsumi began shooting the film at the beginning of last July, and Shochiku will distribute the film in Japan this fall.

BUMP OF CHICKEN: NEW SONG for “Minna no Uta” !

natalie.mu reports that BUMP OF CHICKEN is writing a new song  for the musical show “Minna no Uta” – .

According to the article, the song is titled “Mahou no Ryori ~Kimi kara Kimi e” and reflects Fujiwara’s childhood, hard memories when he was eating diner in tears after has been was severely scolded at school. The length of the song is about 5 minutes.

A music video made in full painting animation will come with the song. (Like Angela Aki’ one I suppose…)

The show will start to be broadcast from April-May.
