シンガーソングライター・YUIのアルバム未収録のカップリング曲を収録したベストアルバム『MY SHORT STORIES』が発売1週目で17.4万枚を売上げ、11/24付週間アルバムランキングで首位に初登場した。カップリング（B面）集による首位獲得は、昨年5/21付のMr.Childrenの『B-SIDE』以来、1年半ぶり。女性アーティストとしては、1984/3/26付LPランキングで松田聖子『Touch Me』が記録して以来、24年8ヶ月ぶり史上2組目の快挙となった。
Singer songwriter, YUI’s latest album containing previous coupling songs, My Short Stories, has reached sales of 174 000 copies in the first week, and has attained the top in the album ranking chart on 24th November. The previous coupling album that has reached the top of the chart is Mr Children’s “B-Side” on 21st May last year. It has been 1 1/2 years since then. As for the previous female artiste who have achieved this feat, it is Matsuda Seiko’s “Touch Me”, which is 24 years 8 months ago. YUI is the second female artiste whose coupling album hit the top of the album ranking chart.
また、これでYUIのアルバム首位獲得は、昨年4月の2ndアルバム『CAN’T BUY MY LOVE』から3作連続となった。YUIは、今回の松田聖子に次ぐ女性アーティストとしての快挙に「感謝の気持ちでいっぱいです！ これからも出逢いを大 切に、そして言葉を大切に、作品作りをしていこうと思っています」とコメントしている。
Also, following her second album “Cant Buy My Love” last April, this is her third consecutive album that has hit the top of the chart. Upon hearing that she is the second female artiste after Matsuda Seiko to have a coupling album hitting the top ranking, YUI commented “I am really grateful! I will continue to treasure every encounter, every word said to me, and work hard to produce more in future!”
本作『MY SHORT STORIES』は、本人が初めて作曲した「Why me」やライブアンコールでもおなじみの「HELP」や「Jam」、自身が出演した映画『タイヨウのうた』挿入歌の「Skyline」「It’s happy line」などのカップリング曲に、新曲「I’ll be」を加えた全15曲を収録。なお、YUIは本作のリリースを持って年内の公の活動は休止すると発表している。
The new album “My Short Stories” contains the first song YUI wrote “Why Me”, the popular songs for live encores “Help” and “Jam”, the theme song, for the movie “Taiyou no Uta” with herself as the main character, “Skyline”, “It’s Happy Line” etc. Including her new song “I’ll be”, there is a total of 15 songs recorded. The release of this CD also signifies the start of YUI’s hiatus from public events.
